A cancer diagnosis changes everything—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
You might currently be in the midst of treatment, rehabilitation, or follow-up care. Or perhaps you can still clearly feel the effects, even though treatment has already ended.

During these challenging times, you may be looking for ways to regain your strength, boost your well-being, and reconnect with your body. Yoga therapy, specifically tailored to the needs of people with cancer, can support you in this process in a mindful and compassionate way.

How yoga therapy can help with cancer

Yoga und Krebs: Wie achtsame Yogatherapie dir neue Kraft schenken kann

Many scientific studies have shown that yoga therapy has the following positive effects in cases of cancer:

  • reduction of fatigue (chronic exhaustion)
  • improvement of quality of life
  • alleviation of depression symptoms
  • reduction of stress and inflammatory responses
  • strengthening your immune system

As an experienced yoga therapist, I guide you on your journey toward greater strength, inner calm, and renewed confidence in your body.

Many of my participants report feeling greater inner clarity, a sense of safety, and a stronger connection to themselves after a trauma-sensitive yoga session.

Why a specialized yoga and cancer course is beneficial

A classical yoga class can quickly overwhelm during or after cancer therapy – both physically and emotionally.

The “Yoga and Cancer” concept takes into account:

  • the phase you are currently in (e.g., chemo, radiation, rehab),
  • possible side effects such as fatigue, osteoporosis, lymphedema, or neuropathies,
  • emotional burdens like anxiety or uncertainty,
  • your desire for a protected space where you can feel safe.

I rely on the principles of the “Yoga and Cancer” concept from the renowned Kammler Academy and the premises of trauma-sensitive yoga: mindful language, self-determination, and the invitation to make your own decisions about movements and breaks at any time.

Side effect management through traumasensitive yoga – how you can benefit

Gentle yoga exercises help you, among other things, to:

  • Neuropathies: Promoting balance and body awareness
  • Osteoporosis: Stability through powerful yet gentle asanas
  • Fatigue syndrome: fluid yet confident movements to activate the joy of living.
  • Lymphedema: Promoting lymph flow through specific postures
  • Nausea: calming breathing exercises and postures
  • Scar tissue: gentle mobilization and mindful massage

Yoga therapy can be tailored so individually to your needs that you notice small improvements and regain confidence in your body.

Here is how a yoga therapy session for cancer patients works

A typical “Yoga and Cancer” session usually begins with a quiet settling-in period and a brief introduction to the day’s theme. This is followed by meditation or gentle breathing exercises to calm your mind. Sometimes we also chant or sing a mantra (entirely optional!). Next, you warm up with a gentle “immune flow” designed to activate your lymphatic system before diving into a mindful asana practice. Afterward, Yin or Restorative Yoga poses help you relax on every level. The session concludes with a period of deep relaxation (Savasana) and a brief closing ritual. In trauma-sensitive yoga, you always decide for yourself what feels right and safe for you.
