How we can direct our energy more consciously during the abundance of summer

Summer (if it ever arrives!) has a sound all its own: balmy nights, lush gardens, expansive light. The world seems wide open—life pulses outdoors, and the air is filled with the scent of freedom, ripeness, and that holiday feeling.

And yet, many people also know another side of this time: the feeling that it can all be too much. Too hot, too loud, too crowded. Too many stimuli, too many appointments, too many expectations—including expectations of lightheartedness.

Yoga philosophy invites us to view this abundance consciously: not as something we are at the mercy of, but as something we are free to shape. In doing so, it speaks of prana—our life energy—the force that flows through us and that we can nourish and protect.

Mitten im Sommer – und mittendrin in mir

For prana is not inexhaustible. It flows where our attention goes. And that is precisely why a mindful look is worthwhile now:

Exercise 1: Journaling – Where does my energy flow?

Take a few quiet minutes—perhaps early in the morning or in the evening, when the air softens.

Answer in writing – intuitively and without pressure:

  • “What really gives me energy these days?”
  • “What do I use up energy on—without it doing me any good?”

You don’t have to change anything. But the very act of becoming aware often initiates a gentle reorientation all on its own.

Exercise 2: Micro-break with Prana Gaze

This short exercise takes just 3 minutes and can help you reconnect with yourself amidst the hustle and bustle:

  1. Find a quiet moment – perhaps with a drink, by an open window, or under a tree.
  2. Close your eyes (if it feels safe) and take three deep breaths.
  3. Then simply sense: What does my energy level feel like right now? – High? Low? Scattered? Centered?
  4. Imagine gathering your energy back—with every breath, with every conscious moment.

You don’t have to do anything—just observe. That, too, is yoga.

Conclusion: Abundance doesn’t mean “taking everything with you.”

Mitten im Sommer – und mittendrin in mir

Especially in summer, it’s not just about experiencing as much as possible. It’s also about sensing what does you good. That might be silence, saying no to an invitation, or saying yes to a lunch break in the shade.

If you like, you can take this sentence with you:

“I allow myself not only to experience everything in the summer, but also to feel myself.”

Perhaps that very thing will become your most important summer experience.

I wish you many more bright, nourishing moments – in the middle of summer, and right in the middle of you. 💛
