Trauma and Yoga – Module with Anna

Module of the 300h training – also bookable individually

More and more people come to yoga class not just for movement.
They come with a full nervous system. With inner restlessness. With experiences stored in the body.

Some call it stress.
Some call it anxiety.
Sometimes it’s trauma.

And this is exactly where our responsibility as yoga teachers begins.

Trigger Warning

In this module we discuss various forms of trauma, stress responses, compensation strategies (including addiction), and typical trauma consequences.
The content may be emotionally touching. Please mindfully consider whether this topic is right for you at this time.
This weekend does not replace therapy.

Why I teach this module

In my work as a yoga therapist, I experience again and again how powerful yoga can be – when it truly takes the nervous system into account.

But I also see how quickly well-intentioned teaching can overwhelm when traumatic patterns are not recognized.

For me, trauma-sensitive yoga is not a “gentle version” of yoga.
It is a precise, responsible, and deeply professional way of teaching.

And it is a field with enormous potential.

What to expect

This weekend combines knowledge, self-experience, and concrete tools for your teaching.

You will learn:

  • what trauma is and what forms it takes
  • how our nervous system works (sympathetic, parasympathetic, vagus nerve, window of tolerance)
  • what polyvagal theory explains – and where its limits lie
  • what happens in the body during trauma
  • why the body is crucial for integrating trauma consequences
  • why yoga can be a particularly effective form of body work

And most importantly:

  • how trauma can show up in the yoga room
  • what trauma-sensitive yoga is all about
  • which attitude and language convey safety
  • how to respond when participants show strong emotions
  • how you can position yourself professionally in this field

A specialization with a future

The demand for trauma-sensitive yoga is growing – in studios, in therapeutic contexts, in clinics, and in supporting people with depression, cancer, or chronic stress.

It is still a niche.
And that’s exactly where the opportunity lies.

With solid knowledge, clarity, and ethical responsibility, you can build a meaningful and sustainable field of work here.

Who is this module for?

For yoga teachers who want to go deeper.
For everyone who understands yoga as a genuine practice of regulation and integration.

You don't need therapeutic training – but openness, self-reflection, and the willingness to get to know your own nervous system better.
